MAMMOGRAM

Mammography is a low energy X-ray tests performed to examine human breast for diagnosis of Breast Cancer or any anomalies in the breast of women.

Mammography screening is conducted to check for early signs of breast cancer and thus provide required treatment to control cancer from advancing. 

Mammogram is also conducted to evaluate a patient with abnormal conditions like breast lump, nipple discharge.

Patient Instruction for Mammogram at Santosh Diagnostic Centre

  • It is not advisable to schedule your mammogram for the week before your menstrual period as your breasts are usually tender during this time.
  • The best time for a mammogram is one week following your period
  • Inform in prior if you are pregnant
  • Do not apply deodorant, talcum powder or lotion on your breast or underarms on the day of mammogram

MRI Scan is performed to diagnose conditions such as:

  • Heart & Blood Vessel – To identify blockages, damage from heart attack, pericarditis, tumors 
  • Brain – To identify tumor, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, stroke, aneurysm
  • Bones & Joints – Arthritis, Infections of the Bone, Herniated Discs, Torn ligaments or cartilage
  • To identify cancer
  • Fractures that cannot be seen on Xrays
  • To identify many diseases and stages of the disease of a particular organ

Patient Instructions for MRI Scan at Santosh Diagnostic Centre

  • Regular food and medicine routine can be followed unless instructed otherwise by your physician.
  • Wear loose fitting clothes with no metal accessories. 
  • Inform the radiologist incase of serious health issue or recent surgery or you have implants of any kind in your body.
  • Inform in prior if you are claustrophobic or anxiety issues so our doctors take the necessary action for a smooth scan at your convenience.
  • Do not carry any jewellery or electronic gadgets or metal objects of any kind to the scan room.
  • Inform in prior if you are pregnant, especially in the first trimester of the pregnancy.
